Charlie Johnson was drafted by the Eagles in the 7th round of the 1977 draft, he worked his way into the starting lineup fairly quickly in his rookie season, starting nine of the twelve games he played. Charlie would start in every game he played for the Eagles after that. By 1979, Charlie was honored with his first All-Pro team. Johnson was a key member of an excellent Eagles defense that helped lead the franchise to Super Bowl XV in 1980, a season in which the 6’ 3” lineman intercepted 3 passes. A three-time Pro Bowler and two-time First-Team All-Pro, Charlie Johnson will go down as one of the very best defensive linemen to have ever worn an Eagles jersey. This size 16, 10k gold player’s ring weighs 51 grams and was presented to nose tackle Charlie Johnson in 1980 when he was part of the Philadelphia Eagles NFC Championship team. The top panel reads “NFC CHAMPIONS PHILADELPHIA EAGLES” surrounding a soaring Eagle in relief carrying a football-shaped marquise-cut .35-carat diamond in its talons atop a translucent green stone. The left panel features the player name “JOHNSON” in relief above “EAGLES 20 - DALLAS 7”, the final score of the 1980-81 NFC Championship game. Below that is a green enameled Eagles helmet and “NG 65”, Johnson’s position and number. The right panel reads “SUPER BOWL XV” in relief above a casted image of the Vince Lombardi Trophy and “1980”. The inside of the ring is stamped “10K ©JOSTENS”. The ring is in NRMT condition.
