Beautifully framed to measure 21-1/2” x 18-1/2”, the display reads “OZ” across the top along with cutouts of two witches. Below that is a small version of the theatrical poster for 1939’s “The Wizard of Oz” from the Rialto Theatre in East Rochester, NY. Below that is a shadow box containing the original Munchkin clay pipe, measuring approximately 3-1/2” x 2” x 1”. To the right of the pipe is a 9” x 7” black and white photo from the Munchkinland street scene. The photo has been autographed by Carroll in black marker with the added inscription “Munchkin 1939”, the signature rates a near 10. Comes with a LOA from West Coast Collectibles that states, “This Vintage Clay Pipe was issued to the set of the 1939 production of “The Wizard of Oz,” for use by a Cast Member portraying a “Munchkin.” It is clearly seen in his mouth when he is coming out of the manhole cover in the Munchkinland street scene. The subject pipe was originally acquired from the well publicized MGM Studio Auction held in 1970.” The piece is accompanied by a LOA from JSA as well as an additional LOA.
