Marilyn Monroe and Joe DiMaggio were married in San Francisco on January 14, 1954. They traveled to Japan soon after, combining a honeymoon with a business trip previously arranged by DiMaggio. Monroe then traveled to Korea where she performed for 13,000 American Marines over a three-day period. She later commented that the experience had helped her overcome a fear of performing in front of large crowds. Black and white 8” x 10” photograph picturing Marilyn Monroe posing with three United States soldiers in Korea. Monroe, smiling for the camera and showing off her curves has signed this rare photo in black ink adding the inscription “Love and Kisses” rating a 7-8. Specifics penned on verso by Corporal Joseph Fishman (pictured) is : “L to R. me! Marilyn Monroe My photo officer Lt Belch, Vic Congeloso + Julio Andujar. We were shooting pictures of her at the general mess after a USO show she put on for the troops Feb 1954...over my right shoulder is Lefty O’Doul’s wife of the NY Yankees”. Photo shows some creasing and the top has been trimmed. There is a small tear on the left side and a thumb tack hole at each upper corner. EX overall, accompanied by a LOA from JSA for the signature.
