The NBA All-Star Game in 1985 was played on February 10th at the Hoosier Dome in Indianapolis. It was rookie Michael Jordan’s first All-Star Game with many more to come. The night prior at the Slam Dunk Contest, MJ wowed the sell out crown with his famous slam dunk when he jumped from the free throw line and slammed it home with one hand. During the game itself, Air Jordan had 7 points, 6 boards and 2 assists wearing these very sneakers which may be the finest pair of Jordan gamers in the hobby…his first All-Star game-used sneakers. White and red leather with black trim original “Nike Air Jordan I” shoes. Size "13" is imprinted on the inside with "850102-TY" of each sneaker. The first Air Jordan stamp is printed on the side of each shoe in black. The tongues are white with a red tag containing the Nike logo and patent information. Both shoes are autographed in black marker with a vintage signature rating an 8-9. The shoes show game-use and appear to have no alterations of any kind. The autographs are accompanied by a LOA from JSA. The provenance of these shoes is undeniable. They are accompanied by a LOA from Robert Crawford (well documented sports photographer at UNC while Jordan was at the University) which states, in part, “I asked Michael if he would give me a pair of his new Nike shoes. At this game, he had already promised his shoes to someone but he asked when I would see him again. I told him at the All-Star Game in February. He promised me a pair from that game. On Sunday, the East team dressed in a football locker room so there was a lot of room around the player’s locker. After the game, Michael was swarmed with reporters but I was able to get his attention, I pointed to his shoes still on his feet. He took them off and threw them to me over the heads of the reporters. Since they were not yet signed, I put a black sharpie in one of the shoes and threw them back to him. I watched him sign both shoes and he threw them back to me, they have been in my personal collection since 1985.” Wow!
