The Indianapolis Indians won the triple A World Championship in 1963. This shirt was worn by their manager that season. What makes this jersey unique for uniform collectors is that it is completely 100% all original and it features two different “Wilson” manufacturer’s tags from two different eras; the 1950’s and 1963. On the left front tail is the “Wilson” manufacturer’s tag with wash instructions and jersey size “44” (1963 tagging). Embroidered below are two strip tags, “Hemsley” and “1963”. Inside the rear collar is the second “Wilson” manufacturer’s tag with jersey size “44” (1950’s tagging). Across the front is “INDIANAPOLIS”. The manager’s number “17” appears on both the back and right sleeve. All these numbers and letters are done in red on blue felt. On the left sleeve is a white felt baseball patch with “INDIANS 6672 INC”. The jersey shows wear and appears to have no alterations of any kind.
