Carl Yastrzemski is an 18-time All-Star, the possessor of seven Gold Gloves and a member of the 3000 hit club. He is the Red Sox' all-time leader in career RBIs, runs, hits, singles, doubles, total bases and games played. In 1967, Yastrzemski achieved a peak in his career, leading the Red Sox to the AL pennant for the first time in over two decades, in that season being voted the MVP and being the last winner of the Triple Crown Award. Inside the rear collar is the “McAuliffe” manufacturer’s tag. Below is the size “42” tag. On the center front tail are two tags, “1978” and a wash instructions tag. Across the front is “RED SOX”. Player number “8” appears on back. All numbers and letters are done in red on navy blue tackle twill. The jersey shows game-use and appears to have no alterations of any kind. It is accompanied by an LOA from the team’s former batboy that states, in part, “I was an employee of the Boston Red Sox from 1972 to 1980 as a batboy and clubhouse attendant…I was given this #8 home jersey directly from Yaz.”
