Bill Melchionni was a key reserve on what many believe to be the greatest 76ers team, NBA Champions led by Wilt Chamberlain, Luke Jackson, Hal Greer, Wali Jones, and Chet Walker in 1967. Melchionni then jumped to the upstart ABA, becoming a key cog with the New York Nets. He played alongside Rick Barry, and later mentored a young Julius Erving. Melchionni was a key player in the 1974 ABA Championship. Melchionni led the ABA in assists per game in both 1971 and 1972. On the inside back tail is the "RAWLINGS" manufacturers size 42 tag. Adjacent to this tag is another tag blank tag. Next to that is the wash instructions tag. Across the front is "NETS" in blue on red tackle twill. Below this and on back is the player number "25" in the same tackle twill. Across the back is the player name "MELCHIONNI" in red tackle twill with blue stitching. The jersey shows game-use and appears to have no alterations of any kind. This lot is accompanied by a LOA from Al Trautwig.
