In 1986, HOFer Dennis Johnson captured his third of three NBA Championships, helping Larry Bird and the Celtics to their 16th franchise championship. This time, instead of meeting the Lakers with the title on the line, as had happened in the previous two years, Johnson had to contend with an up and coming Houston Rockets team led by the "Twin Towers" of centers Ralph Sampson and Hakeem Olajuwon. In a comparatively easy series the Celtics were able to down the Rockets in just six games. This ladies 14K gold ring was given by the Celtics to DJ’s wife, Donna Johnson, in celebration of her husband’s championship win. On the top is a green sapphire Celtics clover, over which is a diamond version of the Larry O’Brien championship trophy, studded with three diamonds. Around the clover are the words “BOSTON CELTICS WORLD CHAMPIONS”. On the left panel is engraved the year “1986” around a green NBA logo, below which is engraved the word “TEAMWORK”. On the right panel is the player name “JOHNSON” below which there is a Celtic twirling a ball. The words “16 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS” and “PRIDE” also appear on this panel. The ring comes in a black leather box. It was placed in the auction by Donna Johnson herself and comes with a family LOA.
