After achieving superstardom playing for John Wooden's powerhouse UCLA Bruins in the early 1970s and winning three straight College Player of the Year Awards, Walton was destined to become an NBA legend. When he was healthy, Walton had few peers. He won the NBA Most Valuable Player award while playing for the defending NBA champion Trail Blazers in 1977-78, a year after he captured the NBA Finals MVP award for his play at the end of his 1976-1977 championship season in Portland. Walton would add a second NBA championship to his resume as a member of the 1986 Boston Celtics. At the top of his form, Walton scored, passed, intimidated, hustled, and played the role of leader with the best centers of his day. He was a perfectionist whose range of skills and dedication never ceased to impress those who saw him play. He was voted as one of the NBA’s 50 All-Time Greatest Players in 1996, three years after he was elected to the Basketball Hall of Fame. This style uniform was worn for two seasons, one of which was the 1976-1977 championship season. On the left front tail is the "Medalist Sand-Knit" manufacturer’s size 46 tag. Above that is an additional manufacturer’s "Designed & Tailored Exclusively for the Portland Trail Blazers" tag. Going down the front right is "BLAZERS" in red on black tackle twill. On the front left and on back is the player number “32” in the same tackle twill. Across the back is the player name "WALTON" in red tackle twill with Swiss black embroidery. Autographed on front in black marker and rates a 6. The jersey shows good game-use and appears to have no alterations of any kind. The autograph is accompanied by a LOA from JSA.
