This red, white, and blue player’s bag belonged to a member of the 1968 ABA Miami Floridians. On the inside bottom of the bag written in black sharpie are the words “1968 Miami Floridians” with the player’s initials below it “A.A.” The Miami Floridians, later known simply as the Floridians, were a charter member of the ABA, but they would last only four short years before being disbanded. They were best known for their bikini clad ball girls who wore white knee-high Go-Go boots. In 2006, the Miami Heat donned replica Floridian uniforms for seven games as part of the NBA’s “Hardwood Classics” program. Even the Heat’s cheerleaders dressed in bikinis and knee-high Go-Go boots for the games in a tribute to Florida’s first professional basketball team.
