Bill Hougland competed in the 1952 Summer Olympics and in the 1956 Summer Olympics, winning a gold medal in each. He was also a member of the Kansas Jayhawks' 1952 NCAA Men's Basketball National Championship team. Phog Allen coached him in both college and the Olympics. On the front left tail of this Olympic jersey is the “Wilson” manufacturer’s tag. Across the front is “USA” in white on red tackle twill. Below on front and on back is the player number “17” in red on white tackle twill. The jersey shows game-use and appears to have no alterations of any kind. The jersey will be accompanied by a LOA from the Phog Allen estate.
