Marilyn Monroe personified Hollywood glamour with an unparalleled glow and energy that enamored the world. Although she was an alluring beauty with voluptuous curves and a generous pout, Marilyn was more than a 1950s sex goddess. Her apparent vulnerability and innocence, in combination with an innate sensuality, has endeared her to the global consciousness. She dominated the age of movie stars to become, without question, the most famous woman of the 20th Century. A world-wide sensation in her lifetime, Marilyn's popularity has extended beyond star status to icon. Today, the name "Marilyn Monroe" is synonymous with beauty, sensuality and effervescence. She remains an inspiration to all who strive to overcome personal obstacles for the goal of achieving greatness. What is offered here is a piece of history having once belonged to and was worn by Marilyn Monroe herself. It is a black cotton blend one piece bathing suit with four large buttons on front and shoulder straps. The provenance is impeccable. It is accompanied by a LOA from May Reis, Monroe’s former assistant which states in part, “I worked for Ms. Monroe from 1955-62 as her personal secretary. After her tragic passing, the Executor of Marilyn’s will asked me if I wanted anything from Marilyn’s personal wardrobe…this bathing suit is one of those items.”
