Eddie Collin’s Junior was the captain of the Yale baseball team who later went on to play some professional major league baseball and then joined the war effort to fight for our country. This is his rare and historic jersey and cap that was worn on April 17, 1939 when the Yale baseball team took on the Boston Red Sox in an exhibition game. On that freezing day the Red Sox edged the Elis 6-5 with a team that included 5 future Hall of Famers: Ted Williams, Joe Cronin, Bobby Doerr, Jimmy Foxx and Lefty Grove. This magnificent jersey contains a "Spalding" manufacturers size 40 tag in the neck and the long sided piece of cloth with COLLINS 40 stamped in that is barely legible. It is road grey with blue tackle twill 1939 on the front. This 6 button jersey has ¾ sleeves. There is an additional tag in the tail which is either from the dry cleaner or an inventory code. The cap shows excellent game use and has no manufacturers tag present. A great piece of Yale and baseball history.
