Thurman Munson was the NY Yankee Captain during the 1970s and led his Bronx Bombers to three World Series and two World Championships. He was the very definition of a leader and a “gamer” while in Pinstripes. He won the MVP Award in 1976. Thurman was taken from us too soon when his plane tragically crashed on August 2, 1979. His number “15” was retired by the Yanks and will forever be immortalized in Monument Park. This bat was used by The Captain during the 1976 baseball season, his MVP season and World Series year. You would be hard pressed to find a nicer Munson gamer. Manuf: H&B, Model: S44 Length: 34.75, Weight: 32oz, Condition: Cracked at the handle which has been professionally repaired. Several ball marks and ball stitch marks are visible on the right, left and back barrel. Cleat marks are visible front, right and left barrel. Blue bat rack streaks are visible on the back barrel. A moderate coat of pine tar appears on the handle. Munson’s number (15) is written on the knob end in black marker. You would be hard pressed to find a better Munson gamer. The bat shows evidence of EXCELLENT game-use and is accompanied by a LOA from PSA/DNA graded a GU8.5.
