Rare letter on LSU "Department of Athletics, Basketball Office" letterhead dated August 25, 1969, three double-sided pages, handwritten to "Art" and signed in blue and green ink by Press Maravich, LSU basketball coach and father of legendary basketball HOFer "Pistol" Pete Maravich. Unbelievable, uncensored content reads in part, "The offers are 'pouring in' from all parts of the country. I keep telling them...'I am not going to do anything about Pete until the season is over.'" "Make that bastard put it in escrow or performance or something that is guaranteed...You can outsmart any of those bastards so you use your noggin." "With Rick Mount signing with the Indianapolis Pacers - that means the ABA is spitting right into the NBA's eye. So to me the merger looks farther and farther away." Great insight into the behind-the-scenes workings during Pistol's early career. Signed "Your rebel friend, Press," letter is NRMT with "Press" signature that grades an 8 to 9. Accompanied by a LOA from James Spence Authentication.
