Pair of special WWII "emergency notes" issued from 1942-1944 by the U.S. Government for citizens and military personnel in Hawaii. $1 (Silver Certificate, Series 1935A) and $10 (Federal Reserve Note, Series 1934A) Julian-Morgenthau with seal and serial numbers changed to brown so that the currency could be declared worthless if there was a Japanese invasion. "Hawaii" overprinted on the front and back. Light wear throughout.
