Led by Lou Gehrig in his last commanding season before ALS began to take its toll, the 1937 New York Yankees defeated the crosstown Giants in the World Series for the second straight year. Winning 102 games as they had the previous year, Gehrig batted .351, with DiMaggio hitting .346 and Bill Dickey .332, the trio combining for an astounding 459 RBIs. The Yankees also had the American League's only 20 game winners (Lefty Gomez and Red Ruffing).
