This unique five cent slot machine has many interesting features. At that time in history, gambling was illegal in many locations, but the purchase of something such as candy mints was considered legitimate. When one inserted a nickel, no matter what combination came up once could receive a pack of mints. The true purpose was to gamble, and if you did get a winning combination the number of coins you won would show up in a small window, but you received nothing until the next pull of the handle; thus you were not gambling. The reels are traditional fruit symbols with different sayings to tell your future. Measuring 25" tall x 16" wide x 16" deep, the back door and inner coin box have been replaced. The original paper instructions atop the mints show some small tears, the mints are fresh. Works well with a nice patina on the bright work and attractive original wood. This item will be expensive to ship.
