Most frequently found among "National Bank Notes," the uncut sheet is a rarely seen oddity among other series' of notes such as this 16 note sheet of 2004 $50 bills. National Bank Notes were delivered directly to the banks in sheets by the U.S. Treasury, where they would have to be hand signed. It was then the responsibility of the individual bank to cut and distribute the individual notes. Later currency was cut directly at the Mint and therefore, an uncut sheet is a collector's delight. These 16 Marin-Snow $50 notes are mint fresh and Uncirculated, featuring a portrait of Ulysses Grant in the center and a small green seal on the right. Further, these are known as "star" notes, as they have a star in the suffix position of the serial number. These notes are typically used to replace a note damaged during the printing process to maintain the correct count of notes in a serial number run; also, packs of "star" notes are sometimes released when the supply is greater than what is needed. Professionally matted and framed to 21" x 29" with a clear back.
