An oversized 3-D color painting of NY Yankee superstar Hideki Matsui measuring 56" x 43" x 1/2". It vibrantly paints Hideki in the NY Yankee home Pinstripe Uniform in his lefty batting stance, standing in the middle of Yankee Stadium. He is being portrayed as his nickname "Godzilla", being head and shoulders above the facade of the Stadium like a giant. There are also two green model airplanes attached to his bat, signifying him swatting the planes away. The Stadium is painted grey with blue stripes and "YANKEE STADIUM" appears in blue block lettering, spaced just as it appears on the actual House that Ruth built in the Bronx. The inside of the Stadium has the white Facade in left field and stands are filled with fans all around giant Hideki. There is also red, white and blue bunting hanging from the rafters over the green grass on the field. Under his Pinstripes is painted a navy blue long sleeve shirt, seen both on his arms and on his chest. Also painted are matching navy blue batting gloves. His facial features are quite striking and realistic, especially his reflex "open mouth" while swinging and his raised cheek bone. His left eyebrow is raised and he seems to be eyeing a fastball to send out of the Stadium. It is painted on 1/2" thick wood that extends out an additional 1/2" due to the bat itself being an second piece of wood attached to the main piece. It is built quite strong and sturdy and is in overall near mint condition and is signed by the artist on the back reading "SAX 04 HIDEKI". This artwork originally hung in the National Baseball Hall of Fame and later in Mickey Mantle's restaurant in New York City. This item will be expensive to ship.
