Hugh McElhenny was to pro football in the 1950s and early 1960s what Elvis Presley was to rock and roll. Known as "The King," he had it all. He was an artist of football, a player whose electrifying moves left opponents and observers spellbound. McElhenny was a University of Washington All-America halfback and was taken in the first round by the San Francisco 49ers in 1952 draft. That year he was a unanimous choice for the league’s Rookie of the Year honors. On the left front tail of this white jersey is the "Hirsch & Price Athletic Equipment Uniforms San Francisco" manufacturer's tag. On the front, back, and on each sleeve is the player number "39" in red tackle twill. The numbers have been changed by the team. The tag on the bottom has been replaced. This jersey shows great game-use and besides the team number change and tag replacement there appear to be no alterations of any kind. An additional LOA will be provided.
