Lynn Swann was a quiet All-American at USC surrounded by other collegiate and future pro greats like Anthony Davis, Pat Hayden, Richard Wood, Armitus Parker, and others. At Tailback U., Swann wasn't thrown to as much as he would have liked, and in some respects, his Hall of Fame pro career in Pittsburgh mimicked his days at USC. This helmet is dated back to the 1973 season and perhaps even '72. The helmet is a hybrid 12 point suspension combined with lower back neck fluid padding which made up Riddells TAK 29 helmet. The shell itself is impregnated in deep red with a USC burgundy maroon outer shell. The Trojans decals are in the correct position above either ear hole, a tradition that was started from Swann's arrival at USC. There is an orange/red dymo tape indicating size 7 1/4. There is also a "-73" markered with year designation, as well as a time clock reading "72-3" identifying the year and month the shell was made. It appears the shell was used in 1972 with a wild cat snubber, and then used by Swann in 1973 with no snubber. It has large jaw pads and the interior still has the original "TAK29" sticker. Swann was one of a few players that used the BD-9, 2 bar facemask in the forward position. There is an aged piece of tape in the crown of the helmet with "22" marked on it. The helmet has the original Riddell stampings on the lower back of the shell. The helmet shows good game use. Accompanied by an additional LOA.
