Joe Niekro was 22 years old when he broke into the big leagues on April 16, 1967 with the Chicago Cubs. Niekro specialized in throwing the knuckleball, and his 221 career victories make him one of the most successful knuckleball pitchers of all time. On the front left tail of this jersey is the "Wilson" manufacturer's wash size "42" tag. Inside the back of the collar is an embroidered strip tag reading "48 67 Set 4" indicating player number, year, and set, respectively. Across the front of the jersey is "CHICAGO." On the back is the player number "48." All lettering and numbering is done in blue on red tackle twill. On the left sleeve is the Cubs team logo patch. On the right sleeve the "MLB 100th Anniversary" patch has been removed and an outline remains. The jersey shows game-use and besides the removal of the "MLB 100th Anniversary" patch appears to have no alterations of any kind.
