Following his debut in 1956, Luis Aparicio helped to redefine the role and expectations of major league shortstops with agile fielding, spray-hitting and speedy base-running. He took Rookie of the Year honors in 1956, collected nine Gold Glove awards, led the American League in stolen bases nine seasons and was named to the All Star squad 10 times. When he retired in 1973, he held the career record for shortstops for games played, double plays and assists. Light blue flannel jersey with blue and white stripe trim around collar and cuffs, button down front. On the left front tail of the jersey is the "Wilson" manufacturers tag with the jersey size "38" and wash instructions on it. Below that is "1969 Set 2" in script embroidered in blue. On the inside back collar there is an additional manufacturers tag with "Aparicio" in script embroidered in blue. Across the front of the jersey is "Chicago" in script in white on blue tackle twill and below that "WHITE SOX" in blue embroidery. On the front is the player number "11" in white on blue tackle twill. On the back is the player number "11" and the player name "APARICIO" in white on blue tackle twill. The jersey was made in 1969 and worn in the 1970 baseball season. The jersey is autographed in the collar in blue marker and rates an 8. The jersey shows game use and appears to have no alterations of any kind. Accompanied by an additional LOA. Accompanied by a LOA from James Spence Authentication.
