From 1903 through 1918, the Boston Red Sox captured five World Series Championships, including the very first in 1903 when they were known as the Boston Americans. A long Championship drought ensued after Red Sox owner Harry Frazee's 1920 trade of Babe Ruth to the Yankees. The 2004 Boston Red Sox "reversed" the "Curse of the Bambino" to capture their first World Championship since 1918. En route to their miraculous 2004 World Series victory, the Boston Red Sox had to pass through New York in order to advance to the final round. It would be their first pennant in New York in 100 years. Already the stuff of legend after their ALCS victory, the Red Sox went on to sweep the Cardinals in the World Series and bring the World Series Trophy back to Boston. This Rawlings OML Selig baseball that was game-used on 10/20/2004 at Yankee Stadium on the occasion of the ALCS Game 7 clincher between the Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees, which the Red Sox won 10-3. The ball bears 25 ballpoint Red Sox signatures including manager Terry Francona on the sweet spot, Pedro Martinez, Jason Varitek, Johnny Damon, Doug Mirabelli, Bobby Jones, Manny Ramirez and several others. Ball shows nice game use with several scuff marks, signatures grade an overall 7 to 8. Accompanied by a LOA from James Spence Authentication, another from Yankees-Steiner Collectibles, a COA from Steiner Sports and a MLB hologram sticker (affixed).
