Called up by the Yankees to replace Babe Ruth in right field, George Selkirk wore the Babe's number three for the rest of his career. They are the only two Yankees to wear this number. The two time All-Star batted over .300 in five of his first six seasons and was a member of five World Champion Yankees teams. After joining the navy to fight in WWII, Selkirk returned to manage in the minors, became the Senators' GM and closed the circle by returning to scout for the Yankees in 1970. This size seven ring has been cast in 10K gold and was presented to outfielder George Selkirk for being a member of the 1937 New York Yankees World Championship team. On the top face of the ring is a round diamond set in a white gold baseball diamond which is surrounded by ornate laurels in relief. Around this is engraved "New York Yankees World Champions" in relief. On both the right and left shanks is the American League eagle in relief with two gold banners that are engraved "New" and "York." Beneath this is engraved "1937." On the inside of the ring is stamped "10K"" and "D&G." Engraved on the inside is "Presented by Commissioner to George Selkirk." A real piece of Yankees history, this ring show slight wear and is in EXMT-NRMT condition.
