John F. Kennedy was one of the most popular American presidents of the 20th century. He was the youngest president to be elected and also the youngest president to die. He was known for his strong foreign policy during the Cold War and his memorable speeches to the American people. His time as president was sadly cut short as he was shot by an assassin while on his way to a speech in Dallas, Texas. This lot has come from the family of a long time nanny for the Kennedy’s. Included in this lot are four shirts personally worn by the late president. Two of these shirts have the initials “J.F.K.” embroidered into the front. The white polo shirt in this lot was made by Fred Perry and Kennedy’s relationship and request for custom shirts is mentioned on their website. There are a total of seven photo prints featuring John F. Kennedy, Jackie Kennedy, JFK Jr. Caroline Kennedy, Robert F. Kennedy, Richard Nixon, author James J. Fahey, Joseph P. Kennedy, Rose Kennedy, and others. There is also an image addressed to Jackie Kennedy from James J. Fahey with a brief caption, note and a photo of the boat that Kennedy sailed off in to fight in the Pacific during World War II. The final piece in this lot is a placemat that is believed to be doodled on by Caroline Kennedy as a child. The document is full of childhood drawings by Caroline and it appears she practiced her signature on the back of the placemat. This collection is accompanied by an LOP from our consignor’s family.
