As the game he invented grew, Dr. James Naismith shied away from the glory associated with professional athletics. His biggest thrill came in 1936, just three years before his passing, when basketball became an Olympic Sport at the 1936 games. His stroke of inventive genius brought him enormous recognition in the ensuing years, as basketball evolved into the worldwide phenomenon it has become today. This 5" x 7-1/2" page has been signed and inscribed in black fountain pen by Naismith, who wrote "James Naismith, U of Kansas, 1935." Page is EXMT with some spotting, signature and inscription grade an overall 9. Accompanied by a LOA from James Spence Authentication.
