HOFer Julius Winfield Erving II was the hottest ticket in town in the early 1980s. He was a game changer not only by way of his statistics but also by the influence of his acrobatic high-flying style, which we still see today. His accolades include - 1981 NBA MVP, 1983 NBA Champ, 11x NBA All-Star, 2x NBA All-Star Game MVP, 2x ABA Champ, 2x ABA Playoffs MVP and 3x ABA MVP. On the front left tail is a PEARSON distributor label, as well as a Wilson manufacturer label with wash instructions, size (42) and an “EX LENGTH” flag tag in which the print has faded out. Team name (SIXERS) appears across the front, and player number (6) on the front and back - both done in blue on red tackle twill. Player name (ERVING) is done in blue tackle twill across the back. Front and back tail has been tucked under and shortened approximately ¼”. This jersey features a uniquely fonted name on the back which was done locally by PEARSON. This font, while atypical, can be seen on the court during the 83 playoff run. The Sixers were specifically known to wear mismatching jerseys and relied heavily on PEARSON to do their lettering/numbering, which differed from the WIlson factory configurations. Yellowing to the body from sweat and very minor staining on the front and back tail. Below the waistband in the rear of the shorts is a Wilson manufacturer label with wash instructions and size (34), the label is detaching from the shorts on the right and bottom portions. Below that is a strip tag with “80 6” stitched in blue. The right thigh is adorned with a 76ers team disc patch. There is also very minor staning on the shorts. This uniform was part of a set purchased in January of 1983 and is accompanied by a copy of the inventory record where twelve jerseys were purchased. The record is signed by the assistant GM, John Nash. This uniform is properly tagged, presented to us as game-used and in our opinion shows excellent wear.
