One of the greatest power hitters that the game has ever seen, Mel Ott hit an incredible 511 homeruns during his 22 year Hall of Fame career with the New York Giants. In this handwritten letter, from December of 1942, Ott thanks a fan named Sally for a scrapbook that she prepared and sent to him. The letter continues "I wish you would drop me a line just before the season starts next year so I could send you a season pass for our games. Then maybe some day I could thank you personally for the scrap book." Fortunately for Sally, Ott made good on his promise. Included with this letter is the season pass, in very good to excellent condition, that Ott sent to Sally, as well as the envelope and a business card from Horace Stoneham who was then President of the ball club. The letter itself, written on Ott's personal stationary, has been spectacularly preserved and has only one small area of discoloration that does not affect any of the writing. The envelope is hand-addressed by "Master Melvin."
