Larry Bird had a Hall of Fame career with the Boston Celtics. It all began for him at Indiana State where he led the Sycamores to the NCAA championship game in 1979, his senior year. He was matched up, as he would be for years to come, against Earvin Johnson of the Michigan State Spartans. The Sycamores finished that season 33-1 with Bird winning the USBWA College Player of the Year, Naismith and Wooden awards. After his three seasons at Indiana State, he left as the fifth highest scorer in NCAA history. He finished his collegiate career with an average of 30.3 points per game. Inside the front button path is the “Rawlings” manufacturer’s tag with wash instructions and size “44”. Attached is a white label with player number “33” written in black marker as well as “7” Extra” typed on the tag. At the left chest is the “State of Indiana” patch done in white on navy blue tackle twill with “STATE” appearing in navy blue tackle twill. Bird has signed the patch in black marker rating a 6. Across the back is “Indiana State” done in white on navy blue tackle twill script letters. Inside the rear waistband of the matching blue knit pants is the “Sand-Knit” manufacturer’s tag with wash instructions and size “36”. Player number “33” is written in black marker. Adjacent is the “McMillan Athletic Goods” distributor’s tag. At the bottom of the right leg is “ISU” done in white on navy blue tackle twill script letters. The warm-up is properly tagged, was presented to us as worn and in our opinion, shows excellent wear. Accompanied by a copy of a letter of provenance from a former IU Police Officer who obtained the warm-up during 1978 while employed at Indiana University. Further accompanied by an additional LOA.
