Rod Gilbert was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1982. Mr. Ranger was the first player in New York Rangers history to have his number retired. He holds the New York Rangers team records for career goals (406), career points (1021), most even strength goals/points/assists and most game winning goals. According to research, This jersey was given to a high-ranking country music exec by Gilbert while in Chicago. The first part of the ‘76-77 season, the road shirts did not have NOBs. This rare jersey does not have a name on the back. The use is outstanding, with team repairs visible on front and back. Also apparent are; inside pilling and stretching from wear, sweat stains and board-burns. The jersey was hemmed in from the waist all the way to the sleeve cuff. This alteration may have been done after it was taken out of play. Embroidered at large on the front is the NEW YORK RANGERS logo. Inside the back collar is the GERRY cosby manufacturer’s tag with wash instructions and a size tag “44” below. Player number “7” is done on both sleeves in blue tackle twill and on the back, in white tackle twill. This jersey is properly tagged, was presented to us as game-used and shows outstanding wear. Accompanied by an LOA including extensive research & provenance from Richard Ellis.
