Pete “Pistol” Maravich was the best scorer in college basketball history and his skills translated at the NBA level in a hurry. He was named to the NBA All-Rookie First Team and went on to make two All-NBA First Teams in his career. Maravich led the NBA in scoring in 1977 and was named to the NBA 50th Anniversary All-Time Team. Maravich was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1987. On the front left tail is the Sand-Knit manufacturer’s tag size “44” with washing instructions. Adjacent above is the Sand-Knit “Designed & Tailored Exclusively for the NEW ORLEANS JAZZ” tag. Across the front reads “JAZZ”. The player number “7” appears on the front and back. All numbering and lettering is done in white tackle twill. During his tenure with the Jazz, Pete wore jersey #44 and #7. Of note, the #7 was also worn by Toby Kimball during the first month of the Jazz inaugural season. Kimball was released shortly thereafter and no one wore #7 during the rest of the season. The jersey was likely recycled to Pistol Pete and worn during pre-season as well as select games throughout the regular season. It should be noted that Toby Kimball was 6-6, 220lb. This one features a simplified “J” in the form of the note. The sides have been custom tapered which is a documented trait of Maravich gamers. The name on back has been removed. Sourced from a team employee. This jersey is properly tagged, was presented to us as game-used and in our opinion shows appropriate use.
