National Baseball Hall of Fame first ballot inductee, Ken Griffey Jr., grew up around baseball his entire life. There are a countless number of photos and video from Griffey Jr. in the Cincinnati Reds clubhouse and bench, where his father played and won multiple World Series. On the Reds’ Father-Son Day, it was the earliest this father-son combination would take the field together until later in both of their careers where they would be reunited once more. Griffey Jr. wore this jersey when he was four years old. On the inside rear collar is a “Wilson” manufacturer’s tag with washing instructions. On this tag, “4 yr” is written in pen. On the left chest is the, “REDS” team logo in white stitching on red tackle twill. The player number “30” appears on the right chest and on the back and across the back reads the player name, “GRIFFEY”. These are done in red tackle twill. On the inside of the waistline adjacent to the zipper path is a “Wilson” manufacturer’s tag with washing instructions. On this tag, “3 yr” is written in pen. Pair of red stirrup socks included. This uniform is properly tagged, was presented to us as worn during the Reds Father-Son Day game and in our opinion shows appropriate use. The uniform is accompanied by a letter of provenance (with a photo of the game) signed by a notary public, saying the jersey was found in Griffey Jr.’s mother’s home, Alberta Griffey.
