Joe Namath is a HOFer and legendary quarterback who led the NY Jets to perhaps the biggest upset in SuperBowl history against the Baltimore Colts in SB III, when he guaranteed victory. The victory was the first for an AFL franchise, helping dismiss notions that its teams were inferior to the NFL’s and demonstrating they could enter the merger as equals. Namath received SB MVP and became the first QB to win both a college national championship and a major professional championship. On the crotch-piece (intact) is a Sand-Knit manufacturer label with wash instructions and size (30). Adjacent is a THORP SPORTING GOODS distributors label. Player number (12) is done on the front/back in green tackle twill and on both sleeves in white tackle twill. Player name (NAMATH) is done across the back in green tackle twill. There is staining and wear shown throughout. Namath has signed and inscribed the back tail “Broadway Joe Namath x12” in black marker, in our opinion rating an 8. The name on the back is applied directly to the jersey which is atypical for the era. Size 50 appropriately sized to accommodate rib protective padding. This jersey is properly tagged, presented to us as game-used and in our opinion shows appropriate wear. Accompanied by a full JSA LOA backed by a PSA/DNA ALOA.
