Ty Cobb valued dollars and cents almost as much as he did base hits. An early investor in Coca-Cola, the ornery Georgia Peach put many coins in his bank account after retiring from baseball. Dispensing every dollar with care, Cobb wrote this check dated 8/2/51 in the amount of $5.39 to the Pacific Gas & Electric Co. and meticulously signed it "Tyrus R. Cobb" in green pen, grading a near-perfect 10. The same version of his name is printed on the excellent condition check, which has figures in pencil on the upper left that appear to have been written by Cobb.
