Two full color tickets to a bullfighting event held at the Plaza Toros Vista Alegre in Bilbao, Spain on August 20, 1959; owned and used by famed American author and journalist, Ernest Hemingway. Each ticket measures 6-½” x 2-½” and is in VG condition with light creasing and a rough right edge where the ticket was torn upon entering the event. In 1959, Hemingway was contracted by “Life” magazine to do a series of articles on the 1959 bullfighting season. He attended these events during research for his writings which were published posthumously in 1985 as “The Dangerous Summer”. These tickets were once the property of Roberto Herrera Sotolongo, who was the personal secretary of Hemingway. Herrera was the conservator of Hemingway’s property until his death in 1970.
