This baseball was used to hit Willie McCovey’s 512th home run, which at the time put him 9th all-time in career home runs. McCovey was one of the game’s elite first basemen throughout the 1960s. He led the league in home runs three times, highlighted by his MVP season of 1969 when he hit .320 with 45 home runs and 126 RBIs. Rawlings manufactured Feeney ONL baseball. Handwritten on the East panel is “#512” in black marker. Handwritten on the West panel reads “WILLIE’S 512th CAREER HOME RUN VS. PIRATES & GRANT JACKSON, PLACING HIM 9TH ON THE ALL TIME HOMER LIST 6-9-79”. There is even toning throughout the baseball and it shows great game use.
