The “First National Bank of Hartford” check has been filled out and signed by famed American author Samuel L. Clemens, better known by his pen name, Mark Twain. It is signed and filled out in black fountain ink and in our opinion the signature rates a 9. Check number 100” is dated April 27, 1875; paid to the order of “Bill Brothers” in the amount of “$10.85”. The check features a red bank stamp dated “May 3, 1875”, it does not intersect with the signature. It has been endorsed on the verso by “Bill Brothers”. Accompanied by a LOA from JSA.
