Not since a youngster named Wayne Gretzky appeared on the scene in the waning days of the 1970's has the hockey world been so captivated by a teenaged talent, earning Crosby the nickname "The Next One" in deference to his predecessor. So highly regarded was the seventeen-year old phenom prior to the 2005 Draft Lottery, that many referred to it as the "Sidney Crosby Sweepstakes," as there was no question but that he would be the first pick. The offered jersey ranks among the finest of the small supply of Crosby gamers to reach the public, dating from his sophomore NHL season in which his 120 points earned him the Art Ross Trophy, and the distinction of becoming the youngest player and only teenager to win a scoring title in any major North American sports league. Inside the back tail is the Cutting Edge Sports tag (Dana Heinze), with “2006-2007 set #3 PLAYOFF JERSEY”. The Penguins crest logo is at large on the front, and smaller version on both shoulders, in black white and beige (patterned) tackle twill. Alternate Captains “A” is on the left breast, player number “87” on the back/both sleeves and player name “CROSBY” is done across the back on a black nameplate. All done in white (patterned) on black on beige tackle twill. Reebok logo patch is sewn onto the back collar. CCM manufacturer’s tag with size “54” sewn into the back of the collar. NHL logo is embroidered on the back right tail. Fight strap is intact which is signed by the Equipment Manager (Dana Henize). This jersey is properly tagged, was presented to us as game-used and in our opinion shows appropriate wear. Accompanied by a Penguins LOA.
