“The Spirit of 76’ers” Program from a January 17, 1964 game between the Philadelphia 76ers and the San Francisco Warriors. The program has been signed by players and coaches from both teams. The back cover of the program has been signed by Hall of Famers Wilt Chamberlain and Nate Thurmond. Additional signatures include Al Attles, Jerry Greenspan, Hubie White, Ken Sears and Guy Rodgers. The interior page with the unused box score has been signed by Dolph Schayes, Alex Hannum (coach) and Tom Meschery. The signatures are done in blue ink and in our opinion, rate a 7 overall. The program is in good condition with some blue ink spatter near Greenspan’s signature, the cover has come loose from it’s staples. Also included is a two page letter from Janice L. Marturano, Senior Corporate Counsel for Nabisco, Inc. The letter is dated February 10, 1992 and is addressed to Seymour Goldberg, Wilt Chamberlain’s attorney. The letter details the termination of a endorsement deal between Chamberlain and the snack manufacturer following Wilt’s claim that he slept with 20,000 women in his 1991 autobiography, “A View From Above”. Chamberlain has handwritten notes in the margins of the letter that read, “I told them about the book / they knew nothing about the book / gave them permission to read the manuscript” and “Because of the Magic [Johnson] situation / heat came my way / because of a figure of speech—20,000.” The letter is in good condition with some staining and creasing. Accompanied by a LOA from JSA.
