The Montreal Canadiens figured out that Los Angeles Kings forward Marty McSorley was using an illegal stick with 1:45 left in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final on June 3, 1993. With McSorley in the penalty box, Montreal scored a power-play goal to tie the game 2-2 and send it into overtime and eventually win the game. Christian “2020 Excell” hockey stick with the player name “MCSORLEY” and player number “33” printed vertically down the handle. Also on the handle is “XL-Shaft” in red. The top and blade have both been taped. McSorley signed the blade in black marker with the added inscription “To Kevin A Real Player” and in our opinion the signature rates a 5. Game use is seen throughout the stick including the handle and blade. We were told by our consignor this stick was used during Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Finals, was presented to us as game-used and in our opinion shows wear. Accompanied by an ALOA from JSA for the autograph.
