A nine-time All-Star and a World Series champion, Goose Gossage twirled his way into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2008. A three-time American League saves leader, Gossage won the AL Rolaids Relief Man Award once and paved the way for the modern closer position. On the front left tail is a “RUSSELL ATHLETIC” size “48” manufacturer’s tag with washing instructions. Attached below is a flag tag that reads, “100% POLYESTER”. Across the chest reads, “Oakland” and the player number “54” appears on both the front and on the back. These are done in green on yellow tackle twill. Across the back reads the player name, “GOSSAGE” in green tackle twill sewn onto a grey nameplate. On the left sleeve is a team elephant logo patch embroidered. On the right sleeve is an embroidered patch that reads, “TWENTY FIFTH ANNIVERSARY OAKLAND ATHLETICS” and below is a Rawlings logo embroidered in green stitching. This jersey is properly tagged, was presented to us as game-used and in our opinion shows appropriate use. Accompanied by an LOA from Howard Perch, who states the jersey was, “acquired by me during my tenure in professional baseball as a batting practice pitcher for both the Chicago White Sox and Pittsburgh Pirates minor league affiliates”.
