An eight-time Pro Bowl candidate and top ten all-time in pass attempts, completions, passing yards and passing TD’s, Joe Montana set the standard of excellence for all contemporary quarterbacks. However, it is his two regular season MVP awards, three Super Bowl MVP awards, and four Super Bowl Championships that propel him into the upper echelon of elite professional athletes. Montana was inducted into the Football Hall of Fame in 2000. Montana wore this jersey on November 27th, 1989 against the New York Giants in a 34-24 victory. Montana threw for 292 yards with 3 passing touchdowns and added 15 rushing yards. On the front left tail is the Russell Athletic manufacturers tag size “44” with washing instructions. Attached is a flag tag reading “100% NYLON”. Across the front, back and on both shoulders is the player number “16” painted in white. Across the back on a red nameplate is the player name “MONTANA” painted in white. There is a repair on the back bottom third of the jersey. Montana signed the back of the jersey inside the player number “1” with an added inscription and in our opinion the signature rates a 4. This jersey is properly tagged, was presented to us as game-used and in our opinion shows excellent use. Accompanied by a RGU LOA confirming the match, a Full JSA LOA, a MEARS LOA grading the jersey an A10 and a shipping slip from the the 49ers equipment manager to a Boston Celtics executive dated shortly after the game.
