Magic Johnson was the first player selected in the NBA Draft and his impact on the league, and on the Lakers, was immediate. When he retired, he ranked first in career assists in the NBA. Johnson was named one of the 50 greatest players in NBA history in 1996 and was elected to the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2002. On the front left tail is the MacGregor Sand-Knit manufacturer’s tag size “42”. Above is the “Designed & Tailored Exclusively for LOS ANGELES LAKERS” tag. Adjacent are two strip tags reading “89” and “2”LB” in black. On the right inseam is a flag tag with jersey materials and washing instructions. Across the front reads “LAKERS”. The player number “32” appears on both the front and back and the player name “JOHNSON” appears across the back. All numbering and lettering is done in purple on white tackle twill. Johnson has signed the back number “2” in blue marker and in our opinion the signature rates a strong 8. Inside the rear waistband of the shorts is the MacGregor Sand-Knit manufacturer’s tag size “34”. Adjacent to the right is a strip tag reading “1” HR”. Adjacent to the left is the “Designed & Tailored Exclusively for LOS ANGELES LAKERS” tag and two additional box tags reading the year “89” and player number “32”.
