Orel Hershiser arguably put together one of the best single seasons in pitching history in 1988. That year, he led the league in wins (23), innings (267), and complete games (15). He finished the season with a record 59 consecutive scoreless innings pitched, breaking the mark of 58 held by former Dodger Don Drysdale, a record which still stands a quarter of a century later. This baseball comes to us directly from Orel Hershiser and was the baseball used during the 40th inning of that historic 59 consecutive scoreless innings streak. ONL Giamatti baseball with “September 19th LA 1 Houston 0 40inn” written on the south panel in blue marker. Accompanied by a LOA from Orel Hershiser.
