During his playing days, Kurt Rambis was a favorite among the Lakers fans because of his status as an over-achieving underdog and ultimate team-player. Known for his defensive and rebounding skills, Rambis also was an efficient clean-up man on offense, with his field goal percentage reaching 59.5% at the peak of his career. He is remembered for his all-out effort and willingness to do the "dirty work" that many players do not embrace. Rambis usually wore a thick moustache and thick-rimmed black glasses, prompting Lakers announcer Chick Hearn to nickname him "Superman". This jacket was worn during the Lakers Championship season of 1987-88. The “Sand-Knit” manufacturer’s tag has been removed from inside the rear collar of the jacket. There are four strip tags, “87”, “31”, “3”LB” along with a blank strip tag indicating the year, player number and extra length, respectively. Across the back is player name “RAMBIS” done in purple on white tackle twill. On the left breast is the team “LAKERS” patch embroidered in purple and yellow chain stitch on white tackle twill. On the right breast is the official NBA embroidered logo. The warm-up shows wear and other than what is mentioned appears to have no further alterations of any kind.
