Rick Sutcliffe unanimously won the Cy Young Award in 1984. At the time, Sutcliffe was just the fourth pitcher to win the National League award with a unanimous vote, and the first to win the award in either league after being traded during the season. He posted a 4-5 record with the Cleveland Indians, then was traded to the Chicago Cubs in June and proceeded to pitch 16 victories in 17 decisions tallying 155 strikeouts in 150.1 innings. In the rear neck is the Rawlings manufacturer’s tag size “48” with washing instructions. Adjacent below is a strip tag reading “40 84 1 48”. On the front left tail is a box tag reading the year “84” embroidered in blue chain stitching. On the left sleeve is a Cubs team logo patch. On the left chest is the large “CUBS” logo embroidered in blue and red and white. Across the back is the player number “40” in blue tackle twill. In the rear waistband of the pants is the Wilson manufacturers tag size “35” with washing instructions. Adjacent is a strip tag reading “40 84 3 35 28” embroidered in blue chain stitching. The player name “HECTOR” is handwritten inside the back pockets and on the inside and outside of the waistband in black marker. The pants show additional wear and additional organizational use following the 1984 season. This uniform is properly tagged, was presented to us as game-used and in our opinion shows excellent use.
