Avenging their loss to the Celtics in the previous year, the 1984-1985 Lakers defeated their arch rivals in six games to win their ninth NBA title to become the first opposing team to win an NBA Championship at the Boston Garden. At age 38, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar became the oldest player to ever win the honor of Finals MVP. The Finals adopted the 2-3-2 format still used to this day. Large approximately 11-1/2 foot x 17 foot championship banner that hung in the rafters of the Los Angeles Forum, celebrating the Lakers' 1984-1985 NBA Championship. Made of yellow nylon, reads "National Basketball Association, World Champs 1984 1985" with Lakers logo in sewn on purple lettering. No rips or tears, very minor small stains, EXMT-NRMT condition overall. A rare treat as most championship banners still hang in the arenas of their origin.
