Although he won three batting titles, played in 18 All-Star games and was acknowledged as the finest defensive left fielder of his time, Carl Yastrzemski will be primarily remembered by Red Sox rooters for his 1967 season, the year of The Impossible Dream. Starved for a pennant for 21 seasons, Yaz almost single-handedly carried the Red Sox during the last month of the very close pennant race. On the left front tail of the jersey is the "Wilson" label which includes the size, "42." Below this is the year tag "83" in black chain stitch. Across the front of the jersey is the name "Boston" and on the back is the player number "8." Both the name and number are made of blue tackle twill. The jersey shows game-use and appears to have no alterations of any kind.
